LV Critical Illness Claims Statistics (2022)

LV is one of the UK’s top insurance companies, with their bright green branding and catchy adverts making them a household name. They sell a variety of different insurance products and here we are reviewing their most recent critical illness claim statistics.

Who are LV?

LV (often styled as LV=) are also known by their full name Liverpool Victoria. They are an insurance provider with a long history in the UK, having been operating for more than 175 years.

LV sells a variety of products including life insurance, car insurance, home insurance, investments, pensions and more.

Why is it important to publish claims statistics?

It is very important for insurers like LV to regularly inform consumers and regulators about their claim’s statistics. LV themselves state it’s just as key to ‘break down the claims we couldn’t pay’ as well as those paid out.

LV critical illness cover will pay out on diagnosis of 41 conditions (core cover) or 87 conditions (enhanced critical illness cover). Theses policies cover a wide range of conditions including the top causes for claims (cancer, heart attack and stroke).

These policies can offer peace of mind that you won’t struggle financially if you were to become seriously ill.

This is a decent amount of cover, but it is always sensible to compare LV with what other insurers can offer. There are a few key things to think about with LV critical illness cover:

  • LV only sells critical illness cover as life insurance with critical illness cover. If you already have a life insurance policy with another provider, you will need to move to an LV protection policy.
  • LV offers several options for critical illness cover including level term, decreasing term and increasing cover.
  • 9 conditions covered by LV will qualify for an enhanced accident benefit, paying out 150% of your cover amount. This includes accidental injuries such as coma, permanent blindness or deafness and brain injuries.
  • Children’s cover can be added for an additional cost which covers your child(ren) for 95 conditions total (10 child specific conditions).

More about critical illness cover:

You can buy LV critical illness cover directly through LV, via a price comparison site or through an experienced life insurance advisor.

It is important to note that LV only sells combined life and critical illness policies. You would also need to have a life insurance policy with LV to buy LV critical illness cover.

Note: There are other insurers who sell standalone policies or include benefits like children’s cover free of charge. It is worth speaking to an insurance expert for more advice about which insurance provider is right for you.
